A calmer waiting room, without another system to run
The Waiting-Room Health Board turns a clinic TV or tablet into a live view of today's flow. It shows who is being served, who is waiting, which doctors are available and the services the clinic wants to promote. Photos, short video clips, YouTube and Vimeo can play behind the live information.
The board reads the same appointments and schedules your staff already use. Nobody has to update a second queue.
What patients see
- Up to three visits under Now serving.
- Up to ten visits under Waiting, plus a count when more people are queued.
- The doctor and visit type for each queue entry.
- Doctors who are consulting or available today.
- An optional ticker of clinic services.
- A clinic headline, logo and up to 20 media slides.
The board refreshes every 20 seconds. If the connection drops, it keeps the last good queue on screen and marks the display as disconnected instead of replacing it with an empty list.
Choose how a visit appears
The board uses the encounter reference number by default. This is the recommended choice because the waiting room does not need a patient's name to call the next visit.
A clinic can choose either of these name formats instead:
- First name and an initial, such as Juan D.
- First initial and surname, such as J. Dela Cruz
The board never sends a patient ID or appointment ID to the display. Staff choose the label format under Settings → Health Board and remain responsible for matching it to the screen's position and the clinic's privacy practices.
Add clinic media
Staff can upload JPEG, PNG or WebP images up to 10 MB and muted MP4 clips up to 20 MB. They can also paste an HTTPS YouTube or Vimeo link. Each slide has its own duration, position, active switch and optional start and end dates. Uploads move to the server in the background with a progress bar, so a larger photo or clip does not hold up the rest of the form.
Date windows work well for holiday hours, visiting specialists and short campaigns. A slide outside its window leaves the rotation without anyone having to remove it. With no slides, the board shows the clinic logo.
Open a display without a staff account
The display opens at the clinic's /today address. Staff can start it with a 6 to 12 digit display PIN or generate a kiosk link from Settings → Health Board. A successful start authorizes that browser for 90 days, so the TV does not need a staff session.
Changing the PIN, rotating the kiosk link or choosing Sign out all screens disconnects every authorized display. The next refresh asks each screen to enter the current PIN or reopen the current link.
Treat the kiosk link like the PIN. Anyone who has either credential and can reach the clinic address can authorize a screen.
Keep the doctor's status current
The board follows each doctor's availability schedule. A visit in progress takes priority and marks that doctor as consulting. Staff can mark a doctor in or out for the current day, then return the doctor to the normal schedule. The override expires after that day.
Designed for an unattended screen
The board fills the browser window, rotates media on its own and polls without a staff member signed in. Video clips stay muted. Clinic colors and branding carry through to the display, while large type and contrast panels keep the queue readable over the media.
Place the screen where the intended waiting area can see it, use reference
numbers where practical, and sign out all screens when a display is lost,
replaced or moved.
